Seeing Possibilities: Growing in the World of Wisdom

Seeing Possibilities

The love for God and the love of God, I believed, are impetus within the spirit and mind of St. Thomas Aquinas that develop his Philosophy and Theology of knowledge. His wisdom is the fruit of his love for God and God’s love for him that usher some sort of panacea to the diatribe of hordes philosophers of all times who embarked in the world of wisdom. St Thomas was able to utilize these two powers within him that made him an Angelic Doctor and at the same time a living reflection of God’s wisdom. On one hand, as the principle puts it, “we cannot force to adopt logical certitude though to deny it may imply logical contradiction.” His philosophy is not forcedly demanded to us, who search for the truth. The acuity and keenness of his arguments led him to the affirmation that there is a God. Hence to affirm the existence of God is not just a reasonable act of the mind, it is also a noble act of the mind in as much as it is a product of a noble act of seeing possibilities within. Possibility is like opportunity scattered to and fro. It is a revelation of nature awaits to be behold. St. Thomas has witnessed such revelation of nature, used it intertwined with his open-mindedness and critical thinking. It leads him to share to us the fruit of his reflection.

Growing in the World of Wisdom

To respond to such challenge is for me to embrace and make the best of every possibility and opportunity offered by God through the many blessings he showered and freely given to me gratuitously. The moment I rise on my bed to prepare myself for another day of formation is a possibility and opportunity, up until of going to bed as I retire for rest is a possibility. Every second; every minute, everyday is a possibility to grow. I need to embrace and treasure them because I believed there are scattered wisdom and virtue behind it. Virtue and wisdom will lead me to the right path if only I let myself to be led. They will teach me if only I commit myself resolutely to be taught. Every seminary activity offers myriads of possibility to grow holistically. Seminary activities are not imposed but to deny them imply stopping possibilities to grow in wisdom. I know it takes a lot of initiative in order to grow. I could not do it alone it is only with the help of God. My prayer is that I may recognize those possibilities everywhere and within me and that I may not be too busy of picking up stones so as not to forget to pick up a diamond.
